Research Grants
Summary
Research grants are awarded to doctoral students, postdocs and senior scientists pursuing promising research projects in one of our focus areas:
- Foundations of Reflection
- Friendly AI
- Existential Risks
SIAI supports novel research to foster scientific understanding in our focus areas, which remain severely underfunded by traditional institutions. The relevance of your proposal to one of our focus areas must be explicit.
Grants are awarded initially for a period of three months, six months, or one year. Grants for advanced doctoral students range from $5,000 to $15,000. Grants for postdoc and senior researchers range from $10,000 to $80,000. SIAI has no preference regarding an applicant's location, institutional or departmental affiliation, country of residence, or nationality.
